      2nd Layer

 

     17-48 km or 11-30 miles thick

 

     Needs Ozone-blocks 95% of UV Rays

 

     Less Water Vapor (1/1000)

 

 

OZONE

 

DEFINITION: A FORM OF OXYGEN, O3, WHICH BLOCKS UV RAYS. MOST OF IT IN THE STRATOSPHERE.

 

 

 

Chloro-Fluoro-Carbons and their Effects

 

  • Destroy Ozone
  • Man-Made
  • Emissions have accounted for 80% of Ozone Depletion
  • 1 Chlorine Atom can destroy 100,000 ozone molecules!!!
