Tropospheric Ozone
The troposhere is the layer of the atmosphere that is closest to the earth. It contains 75% of the mass of the arth's air.

Ozone that is found in the troposphere is undesirable and detrimental to organisms on earth. Ozone makes its presence in the troposphere due to the human emmissions of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds. Nitrogen Oxides are emmited fropm theburning of fossil fuels and VOC's are emmited in gasoline fumes and evaporation of certain solvents. When these pollutants react with each other and the sun, ozone is the product. This ozone that is present in the troposhere is toxic and can do much damage. It is responsible for damaging crops, damaging forests, iritating eyes, causing breathing difficulties in humans, and increasing susseptability to infection. ALso, ozone, along with the combination of some other pollutants, form Photochemical smog. This is like a cloud of pollution that forms. It is also undesirable.
